This is the image database of Japanese specimens housed in the xylarium of the
Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (TWTw). This xylarium now
houses 8,700 wood specimens of 800 species in 106 families collected
throughout Japan.

This database mainly shows surface views of wood specimens, optical
microscopic images of preparations, and images of voucher herbarium
specimens. Besides these images, for a limited number of specimens, we show
electron microscopic and binocular images of wood specimens and images of
fresh branches and woods at the time of collection
